The proof that the humble tea plant is a superstar ingredient can be seen in its use by bartenders and mixologists around the world. Whilst tea has a long history on the back bar it is experiencing a spectacular rise in no and low ABV (alcohol-by-volume) drink lists.  What is the case for using tea as an ingredient on low and no cocktails?

Whether you are a closet astrologer or find horoscopes a little bit of fun you may be intrigued to know that our tea pets personalities stem from the lunisolar calendar. It was our way to acknowledge the origins and long history of tea.

Tea pets provide the tea drinker good luck and remind us of enjoyable tea experiences. Next time you reach for a can of East Forged think about the tea ritual. Shake, pssssch and pour - showering you with positive vibes and a reminder of good times shared.

In building the East Forged brands, we have made many call-outs for volunteers and are so grateful and fortunate to always receive.

Last year,we wanted to create some momentum for the launch of our brand and Kickstarter campaign and in doing so,  participated in the Tea Festivals Australia events in Melbourne and Sydney.

We called for volunteers to support us on the day and the universe introduced us to this all-round incredible human, Amy Masson or @amyli888 on Instagram.

We’ve heard it before; you are what you eat. Everything should be done in moderation - but how often do you check the sugar, calorie or alcohol content of your favourite food and beverages?

Most importantly, do you know how much of these ingredients you should be consuming and the effects they can have on your health if you have too much?

Just because it says sugar-free, low-fat or alcohol-free - doesn’t mean it’s good for you, which is why it’s so important to read the label.

We talk about the rising trend of mindful drinking or sober curious folk looking for choice when deciding not to imbibe as well as maintaining control of our mental well-being. How to approach the category of alcohol-free drinks and what to look for in non-alcoholic drinks both at the bar and in the home. Evelyn also shares some insight into Canada's non-alcoholic drink scene. She explains that the demand by consumers, bartenders and brands is resulting in a an elevation of the non-alcoholic serve options in the bars and clubs.

This week we welcome award-winning bartender, Evelyn Chick, to our blog. Based in Canada we connected with Evelyn following a masterclass she held on Zero Proof cocktails (also known as temperance cocktails or alcohol-free cocktails). She generously shares her knowledge and gives her 5 top tips on using tea to create epic alcohol-free tea drinks for the home bar.

Elevating the tea experience is a top priority for our East Forged Co-founders Kym and Tania.  They will jump on any opportunity to talk, write and drink tea.  To say they are passionate about tea is an understatement because between them they have three tea companies!  They compete in competitions, travel to origin and are actively involved in the industry here and internationally.  They love to promote the value of tea as an ingredient and the impact it has for the beverage industry.

We love to experiment at East Forged HQ and often collaborate with people on fun tea projects.
