The Container Deposit Scheme
CDS was established in South Australia in 1977 before moving to the Northern Territory in 2012. New South Wales commenced the CDS in 2017 with both Australian Capital Territory and Queensland joining in 2018. Western Australia's CDS is scheduled to commence in 2020 followed by Tasmania in 2022. Victoria has set a target of 2023. East Forged are committed to sustainability and supporting the CDS initiatives.
With waste becoming a bigger and bigger problem, CDS provide a financial incentive to reduce litter, leading to cleaner beaches, waterways, parks, and streets, and mean less recyclable materials are sent to landfill – Planet Ark – recyclingnearyou.com.au
