FAQs

Do you added any sugar or sweeteners?

People expect our tea brews to be sweet but we don't add any sweeteners or sugar.  They have a Crisp and Clean taste. Our beverages include naturally occurring sugars from the fruits.  Results from the nutritional analysis show very low (less than) <0.2g sugar per 250ml can.  Calories are between 1.4 - 4

Is there any caffeine?

East Forged tea brews contain the natural goodness of quality tea leaves that have been steeped in cold water over a long time. Our teas are produced from the Camellia Sinensis plant that naturally contains caffeine. Each can of our Black Tea & Yuzu and White Tea & Calamansi contains 27.5 mg of caffeine. Our Green Tea & Pitaya contains 32.5 mg of caffeine per can. The caffeine levels are low and are about half the caffeine of a 30ml espresso and a fraction of energy drinks yet they still provide a gentle clean energy lift in your day!

Are the tea brews gluten free?

We don't use gluten ingredients. If you are Coeliac, we don't test every batch but when we do Gluten is not detected. The brewery is not Coeliac approved and there is the chance of cross-contamination.

How does the nitrogen affect the taste?

Nitrogen creates a smoothness unlike the lemony character of CO2 which is used to create the frizz in beverages. The nitrogen bubbles are smaller than CO2. When a nitrogen drink is poured, a creamy head is created as the very fine bubbles rise and surge to the top. We looked for an ingredient to add texture and not interfere with the natural flavour of tea. Read more here.

Take a walk in the jasmine tea garden

This is our most aromatic flavour.  The orange/lime citrus aroma is distinctive against the grassy and hay taste of the white tea.   This is for you if you are looking for that thirst-quenching drink on a hot summer day 😼

MORE DETAILS

White tea (botanical name: Camellia Sinensis)

White tea is the least processed of all the tea families – white, green, oolong, and black.  It is picked and dried over many hours either indoors or shaded outdoors.  The tea leaves do not go through the same rigorous processing as the other tea families.  It is handled very carefully during turning to ensure consistent drying and minimal intervention. White tea is a well-regarded healthy drink in cold brews. Our white tea is USDA certified organic from China’s Fujian Province.  It is grown with minimal intervention from machines or human hands, this delicate white leaf is dried indoors to preserve its natural shape and enhance an elegant flavour. Tea starts with the same plant and the different processing technique is the main contributor to the end resulting tea – white, green, oolong or black.

Calamansi belongs to the same family as Kumquat or Cumquat (botanical name: x Citrofortunella macrocarpa)

Also known as Calamondin or Philippine lime, it is native to the Philippines and found everywhere in Filipino cuisine.  Though it is not lime, it is a cross between another species of citrus and the Kumquat.  The flavour is like a sour orange or sweeter lime and a fragrance that is replicated on the nose.  Though they ripen to orange, they’re usually picked while they are still green and the flesh is bright orange. Calamansi adds an intense fragrance twist to our East Forged range of non-alcoholic drinks.

Awarding Winning Tasting Notes

Judges notes:  I can pick out a delicate tea aroma that is quite comforting. A hint of citrus fruit with this too. On the palate, the main aroma is tea, light citrus fruit
