FAQs

Do you added any sugar or sweeteners?

People expect our tea brews to be sweet but we don't add any sweeteners or sugar.  They have a Crisp and Clean taste. Our beverages include naturally occurring sugars from the fruits.  Results from the nutritional analysis show very low (less than) <0.2g sugar per 250ml can.  Calories are between 1.4 - 4

Is there any caffeine?

East Forged tea brews contain the natural goodness of quality tea leaves that have been steeped in cold water over a long time. Our teas are produced from the Camellia Sinensis plant that naturally contains caffeine. Each can of our Black Tea & Yuzu and White Tea & Calamansi contains 27.5 mg of caffeine. Our Green Tea & Pitaya contains 32.5 mg of caffeine per can. The caffeine levels are low and are about half the caffeine of a 30ml espresso and a fraction of energy drinks yet they still provide a gentle clean energy lift in your day!

Are the tea brews gluten free?

We don't use gluten ingredients. If you are Coeliac, we don't test every batch but when we do Gluten is not detected. The brewery is not Coeliac approved and there is the chance of cross-contamination.

How does the nitrogen affect the taste?

Nitrogen creates a smoothness unlike the lemony character of CO2 which is used to create the frizz in beverages. The nitrogen bubbles are smaller than CO2. When a nitrogen drink is poured, a creamy head is created as the very fine bubbles rise and surge to the top. We looked for an ingredient to add texture and not interfere with the natural flavour of tea. Read more here.

MORE DETAILS

Black Tea (botanical name: Camellia Sinensis)

Leaf tea starts with the same plant and the different processing techniques contribute to the end resulting tea type – white, green, oolong, or black.  Black tea is created through the various processing techniques and skills of the tea farmer.  There are hundreds of different types of black tea depending on the cultivar or variety, terroir, and style of processing.  Around 90% of Australian Black tea has been growing in northern Australia since the late 1880’s with plants from Sri Lanka.

Yuzu or Yuja in Korea (botanical name: Citrus Junos) is a citrus fruit that is said to have originated in Central China.  It is an odd lemon-like fruit with a lot of seeds and is prickly to pick, has a difficult flavour to describe.  At best it is tart like a grapefruit with mandarin overtones.  Yuzu is widely used in Japan and Korea as a sauce, marmalade, preserve, or vinegar.  It is not usually eaten as a fruit.  Yuzu farms can be found in Australia, however, the fruit is usually presold to restaurants and rarely available for sale.
